IN CONTROL!

To optimise the use of his electrical networks, the user needs to be able to measure and to monitor the parameters of the network, to meter and manage energy consumption and events, analyse the harmonics, remotely control the equipments and to communicate with the different components in his installation.
Socomec, European specialist in energy control and management, develops, industrialises and markets the products and the softwares required to meet these needs.
This offer takes the form of two communicating systems:

  • the COUNTIS® system for the energy monitoring
  • the DIRIS® system for the control, the management and the protection of the installations.
These two systems can also be connected and communicate with a PC equipped with our new software:
  • CONTROL VISION, for the intelligent supervision of the whole of the installation.
DIRIS® and COUNTIS® ranges for the control and the management of energy are today the most complete on the market. Every year they are enriched by new features that come out of the constant cooperation between our development teams and our clients and users, whether they be integrators, panel builders or operators.

The COUNTIS® system: energy metering
The monitoring of energy consumption is becoming a necessity in the optimising of the cost price of a product within a manufacturing process, or within the controlling of building operating costs.
The COUNTIS® system consists of several meters suited to all types of electrical network. The consumptions can be exploited directly on the products' front panels or remotely using their impulse output connected to a concentrator which will then be connected to a PC or a PLC by an RS485 link.
The operator will therefore be able to manage this information and draw up load curves or analysis tables.

All the products in the COUNTIS® range comply from a metrological point of view with IEC 61036 class 1. This development is due in particular to the arrival of 2 new products: COUNTIS® Atv2 and Ativ2.

The DIRIS® system: control, management and protection of installations

The installed load of a factory, building or workshop is frequently re-dimensioned by changes in or modifications to equipments. Operators must be able to calculate these new requirements whilst continuing to monitor energy costs. This is why, beyond simple metering, a need for true energy management is emerging, with a view to the optimisation of costs in relation to the installed load.
DIRIS® system, simple, effective and evolutive solutions can be implemented in both industry and the tertiary sector.
DIRIS® products are installed in the electrical stations that supply the different installations on a site.

They measure, in real time, the main electrical quantities, in particular currents, voltages, powers, not forgetting the power factor. They also meter active and reactive energy and offer "10 or 15 minute average power" storage over several days.
Moreover DIRIS® allows the recording of water, air and gas consumptions. Thanks to this function, a site equipped with it can offer its users overall energy use reports. And once again, the ability to exchange and communicate in a centralised way emphasises the usefulness of DIRIS® device in the centralised management of the installation.

This year, the DIRIS® range has seen the arrival of a new version of DIRIS® Ap integrating the Profibus DP protocol, measurement of neutral current and the displaying of energies and THDs as standard.

CONTROL VISION: centralisation of the parameters of an installation

DIRIS® and COUNTIS® communicate by RS 485 link and use the JBUS/MODBUS protocol.
The CONTROL VISION software running in the Windows™ environment can also communicate with all the products in the installation and create histories based on manual or automatic scanning.

Introduction of DIRIS units

CONTROL VISION offers the possibility of displaying all the electrical quantities measured, of reading the energy consumptions of a production line or a furnace.
The user can also remotely control triggering device, but also create histories for several electrical quantities over a given period.

For more information,
see the catalogue pages

This piece of software can be used by the operator of the communication network, but also via the Intranet network to provide access for all those interested to the information stored in the database.

Measurement history curve

All these functions can be carried out for one DIRIS® (corresponding to one output) or a whole group of DIRIS® units defined in advance (all the outputs relating to a workshop, for example). The user will also be able to intervene on the configuration of each device installed on the digital link used by the software.
The standard communication protocol used by Socomec allows the products on the distribution network to be more easily deployed over time. A first, obligatory stage consists of the installation of a cable suited to the RS485, or even the attribution of available pairs in an existing cable. The ease of integration and increasing the number of units on this RS485 link means that this can be made into a lasting solution.

Integrated development and production

Socomec's development is supported by 80 years' experience in the field of low voltage equipment and today it is recognised as one of the leading companies in Europe in energy control and management.
Its fully integrated production facilities are ISO 9002 certified.
A dynamic investment policy allows it to keep control of constantly increasing production, due to the worldwide success of its products.
